Although he is now already writing his own history as a star of Real Madrid and the Brazilian national team, Rodrygo still has idols he seeks to imitate in order to reach his best version. And he is not limited to other football legends.

In an interview with Globo Esporte, the 23-year-old striker revealed that he is a big admirer of LeBron James, a figure in the NBA: “I have many (references) in life, but mainly in sports, right? And LeBron, without a doubt, is one of the guys I like to watch, follow, see the things he does. So, without a doubt, he is an inspiration for me to see his performance and all the care he takes.”

Rest is a fundamental piece in the care of the high-performance athlete, and Rodrygo has it more than clear: “If you have a bad night’s sleep, you won’t be able to perform well the next day to train in the morning or the next day to play, it’s quite difficult. When you sleep well, you’re rested, you wake up more willing, you wake up able to do everything. That’s why I always give a lot of priority to my sleep, because I know it’s going to define how my next day will be.”

The inspiration of football players is not only limited to their own discipline, and this case shows how sports and athletes in general can complement each other, beyond their differences. Behind each competition there is something in common, which is the training and preparation to perform at the highest level.
