Neymar attacks Defante

Player Neymar expressed his dissatisfaction with Defante after the comedian openly criticized the real estate project in which the athlete is involved, a luxury development in northeastern Brazil.

Defante, known for his acidic humor, posted on X (formerly Twitter) a message saying “Privatize the head of my di**”, making it clear his opposition to the project which, according to him, could result in the privatization of beaches.

Neymar, in response, posted a rant on social media, calling Defante a “blowhard” and “idiot”. The player revealed that he had received the comedian in his home as a fan, but regretted it after the criticism. “Beware of who you open the door of your house to…”, Neymar wrote.

Neymar feuds with Piovani abusing sexism

The controversy, however, did not stop there. Luana Piovani, known for her critical stance, also positioned herself against the real estate project in which Neymar is a partner.

The actress used her social media to share a video criticizing the development, raising questions about the environmental and social impacts of the so-called “PEC of the privatization of beaches”. Piovani even said it was a shame to have Neymar as an idol, which generated an even more aggressive response from the player.

Neymar did not spare words in attacking Piovani, using derogatory and sexist terms to discredit the actress. “I think they opened the asylum door there, let a crazy woman out who doesn’t stop saying my name,” the player said in a video posted on his social media. He also accused Piovani of wanting to “make a statement on the internet” and said she was “old” for that.

What is the PEC of the Privatization of Beaches?

The “PEC of the privatization of beaches” (PEC 03/2022) has been the target of criticism from environmentalists and experts. The proposal provides for the end of the Union’s exclusive ownership of coastal lands, allowing the transfer of these areas to states and municipalities and, eventually, to private occupants.

Environmentalists warn that the PEC may facilitate the creation of private beaches and pose risks to biodiversity.

In response to the controversies, Due Incorporadora, Neymar’s partner in the real estate project, released an official note stating that it strictly complies with environmental laws and that the development will not be affected by the PEC. “We publicly reaffirm that environmental and social responsibility are immutable values within our company and projects,” the developer declared.

The PEC proposal, which received a favorable opinion from Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, has been defended by supporters of former president Jair Bolsonaro, of whom Neymar is a known sympathizer. The player even asked for votes for Bolsonaro in the last presidential election.

The discussion about the privatization of Brazilian beaches continues to be heated, with strong reactions from both public figures and civil society. Meanwhile, the tension between Neymar, Piovani and Defante continues to reverberate on social media and in the media, showing how sensitive and divisive the issue is here in the country.
