Defender Beraldo is ready to help Dorival Júnior in the Copa América. The Paris Saint-Germain player knows the competition in the Brazilian National Team and said he can play more than one position in the team’s campaign in the competition. Brazil will debut next Monday (24) in the Copa América. The Seleção will face Costa Rica, in Los Angeles. Before that, on Thursday (17), Argentina will open the competition. The current world champions will face Canada, in Atlanta.

“Nowadays, players have to know how to play more than one position. In my case, I’m a center-back and a left-back at PSG. Dorival didn’t talk to me, but he knows that if he needs me, he can count on me, if he needs me in a game, if there’s any sending off, I’ll do everything to help the national team,” said the defender.

Beraldo and Dorival worked together last year at São Paulo. On that occasion, they participated in the historic campaign of the Brazilian Cup conquest. The 20-year-old defender said he knows the dispute for a starting spot is open.

“As Dorival said, everything is open, he has a week to define the team. I don’t think I have an advantage for playing with Marquinhos, we have to show every day that we deserve to be starters, it’s a healthy competition. It’s not because I know Marquinhos better that I’ll have more opportunity to play, but by demonstrating it on the field,” said Beraldo, who has played with the former Corinthians player at Paris Saint-Germain since the beginning of the year.

Beraldo started the 1-1 draw against the United States on Wednesday (20), in Orlando. It was the last test before the Seleção’s debut in the Copa América. Before that, Bremer was the starter in the 3-2 win against Mexico, in Texas. This Monday (17), Brazil returns to train in Orlando. The adjustment of the defense is one of the points that the coach will work on in this final preparation stretch.

“Concern is not the right word, it’s an adjustment to be made. I think we don’t defend only with a back four and the midfielders, but with everyone, and that’s what Dorival always says. If everyone gives a little bit more, we’ll maintain defensive organization.
