Ederson has been integral to the team, securing six Premier League titles in seven years and accumulating over 300 appearances since his 2017 transfer from Benfica.

City is confident they can find a replacement if Ederson departs, with Al Ittihad already expressing interest. His contract runs until 2026, but City is open to discussing an extension if he opts to stay.

The future of Ederson’s backup, Stefan Ortega, is also in the balance. Entering the final year of his contract, City risks losing Ortega on a free transfer in 2025 if they can’t agree on new terms.

Although City has made an offer, Ortega has yet to sign, weighing his options between staying as the second choice or seeking a starting role elsewhere. Guardiola values Ortega and hopes he stays but understands his desire to be a primary goalkeeper.
