The chants of “Messi, Messi” launched by Neymar and the fans of the Saudi club had only one goal, to taunt Cristiano Ronaldo who saw his Al Nassr team lose once again in the final. Captured and shared on social networks, the scene went around the football world. It illustrates the complicity that still links Neymar to Lionel Messi, with whom he formed a formidable attacking trio during his time at FC Barcelona and PSG.
During these years in Catalonia, both players won numerous trophies including a Champions League. Their friendship and mutual respect contrast with the rivalry that has opposed Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for more than a decade.
