Casemiro surrendered to the figure of Toni Kroos

The midfielder, barely 34 years old, says goodbye prematurely, with a lot of football still to play, with a UCL final on the horizon and a tournament of great magnitude like the EURO to face, Toni is leaving the feeling that I could give more.

However, to retire in style, and to the surprise of many teammates and former teammates, the German will hang up his boots in July.

In commemoration of their friendship and the legacy they built together at Real Madrid, Casemiro used his social networks to send an emotional farewell message to the German midfielder, whom he classified as “the perfect player”, a sign of the high esteem in which he feels towards this living legend of modern football:

“My dear Toni, Champions teammate and friend forever. You’ve known when to say goodbye, so he looks back proudly and smiles: you’ve earned it. There is only one Kroos, the one we have all enjoyed (Lukita and I especially), but the one in the photo is Toni, 𝘮𝘪 Toni. How many anecdotes, victories and titles have been forged in that gym. It was our office and when we had to get serious, we did it; and when it was time to have fun, well too.”

“You are the perfect player, but I stay with the person. Little more, good friend. It has been a pleasure being by your side. Be happy.”, wrote the Manchester United midfielder with a past at Real Madrid.

Toni Kroos, Casemiro and Modrić formed a spectacular tandem in the Real Madrid midfield that managed to lift the UEFA Champions League three times in a row and the last one they lifted together was the 2021/22 edition.

The German won four of his five UCL titles with Real Madrid, while the remaining one was obtained with Bayern Munich. This month, at Wembley, against Borussia Dortmund, Kroos aims to win his sixth UEFA Champions League, thus closing his masterful career with the meringues.
