Despite their impressive tallies, neither has caught the attention of the Brazilian national team selectors.

At just 22, Igor Thiago has made significant strides at Club Brugge in Belgium, scoring 29 goals in 55 matches this season. His performances earned him a move to Brentford in England’s Premier League, set to start in July.

With Club Brugge poised to claim another Belgian Championship, Thiago’s influence was also felt in the Europa League, where he scored a pivotal goal in the semi-final against Fiorentina.

Juninho Vieira, 27, has excelled at Qarabag in Azerbaijan, finding the net 27 times in 52 games. After beginning his career at Athletico in Brazil and playing in Portugal, his recent highlight came in the Europa League, where he scored a dramatic goal that nearly ended Bayer Leverkusen’s unbeaten run, although the match concluded in a 2-2 tie.

Leading Brazilian goal scorers in Europe for the 2023/24 season include:

  • Igor Thiago (Club Brugge): 29 goals
  • Juninho Vieira (Qarabag): 27 goals
  • Evanilson (Porto): 24 goals
  • Vinícius Júnior (Real Madrid): 23 goals
  • João Pedro (Brighton): 20 goals

Their performances underscore the breadth of Brazilian talent in football across Europe.
