Atlético-MG will announce the transfer of youth striker Savinho to Group City, the owner of various teams throughout the globe, including Manchester City, with only the signature of a contract. The sale is for €6.5 million (R$38 million). It shouldn’t end there, as Galo might possibly lose midfielder Yan Phillipe to the same squad from the lower divisions.
Both are 17 years old, but unlike Savinho, Yan is still in the early stages of negotiations. Since December, Group City has been speculating about the second player and even made a bid for the midfielder, which the Minas Gerais team first turned down.
Foreigners’ interest in Yan resurfaced when they met with Savinho and learned that the Minas Gerais club had to sell since it has a superb cast – including Hulk and Godin – and need to “generate revenue” to put their books in order.
Group City, on the other hand, is unlikely to send players immediately to Manchester. For example, Savinho is having his name publicized in Girona, Spain, where he may remain for a few years to gain experience before moving on to the main club of the corporation that purchased him.

In a match against Atlético-GO for the Brasileirão in 2020, Argentine coach Jorge Sampaoli promoted him to the senior squad. He was a member of the title teams in the Campeonato Mineiro, Campeonato Brasileirão, and Copa do Brasil last year. The “white triplet,” as it became called.
In 2021, he was named one of the 60 most promising young players in the world born before 2004 by the traditional English daily The Guardian. He appeared for the Rooster 23 times but did not score any goals. He made 36 appearances for the base, with 13 goals scored. His “trademark” is his ability to dribble opponents with ease.

Yan also competed in the under-14 youth divisions at Galo. He was born on May 17, 2004, in Belo Horizonte, the capital of Minas Gerais. In 2018, he was called up by the Brazilian under-15 national team. Atlético-MG named him state champion under-14, under-15, and under-17.
He has yet to make his professional debut for the Minas Gerais club, although he is the undisputed leader of the team’s under-20 division. So far, the midfielder has appeared in 70 games for Galo’s lower divisions, scoring 31 goals.
Yan Phillipe’s contract with Atlético-MG runs through December 2023, with an option to extend it for another two years if he is promoted to the first team. He has a €56 million (R$330 million) release clause. His key qualities are his precise passes and outstanding set piece.
