First scenario: Brazil beat Spain

If they defeat Spain, the Selecao Feminina will book a place in the quarter-finals. If they win by two goals, Brazil will finish atop Group C.

Second scenario: Brazil draw against Spain

A draw would be enough for Brazil to stay alive in Paris 2024, as finishing the group stage with four points would guarantee them to finish at least as one of the best third-placed teams.

Third scenario: Brazil lose to Spain

To qualify with a loss, Japan must avoid defeat against Nigeria. In that case, the Brazilian women’s team could advance as one of the best third-placed teams.

However, if the African team wins against the Asian side, Brazil could finish bottom of Group C and therefore get eliminated.

If Brazil lose to Spain and Japan also lose, Arthur Elias’s team would be tied with three points along with the Asian and African teams. In that case, different tiebreaker criteria would come into play:

  • Goal difference
  • Goals scored
  • Fewer red and yellow cards
  • Draw

In the event of a triple tie, the head-to-head results criteria would not apply.

Who could Brazil face in the quarter-finals?

The Group C leader will face the third-placed team from Group A or Group B. The second place will face the Group B winner, which could be the United States. The third-placed side, meanwhile, will face the leader of Group A, which could be France or Colombia.
