Vinicius Junior’s fantastic season with Real Madrid could have a golden finale on Saturday, June 1, when Los Blancos face Borussia Dortmund in the grand final of the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League.

Although the outcome of this match could be decisive for awards such as the Ballon d’Or, the Brazilian made it clear that he is willing to “sacrifice” the accolade if it means winning the Champions League and the Copa América in July. Additionally, he mentioned that he would like to see Toni Kroos get the recognition.

“I would sign up to win the Champions League final and the Copa América, and the Ballon d’Or for Toni Kroos because it’s his last season. He understands that we are sad about his decision,” Vini said during Real Madrid’s Media Day ahead of the Champions League final.

“It’s a very beautiful award because you work all your life to become one of the best players in the world, to play against the best and for this great club. We have to focus on the final, and then we’ll see who will win the Ballon d’Or,” he added.

Remembering Zagallo

Sambafoot Series launched a new documentary about the football legend Zagallo. Known as ‘Velho Lobo‘ and as superstitious as it gets, Zagallo helped shape what Brazilian football is nowadays — as a player and as a coach.
