Even though they are miles apart, Brazil and the UEFA Champions League hold a special relationship. This is thanks to the number of Brazilians footballers who have left their mark on the European competition, with several of them scoring in a final.

Of course, the first names that may come to mind when thinking of Brazilians who shone in the Champions League are usually Ronaldinho, Kaká, or Roberto Carlos, among others; while in the current era, those who best represent their country are Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo.

However, just as there were legends who scored in a decisive match, there were other Brazilians with a lower profile who also managed to do so.

Brazilians who scored in a Champions League final

Since the introduction of the current name of the tournament in 1992, there have been six Champions League finals with Brazilian goals. The first to do so was Lúcio in 2002 for Bayer Leverkusen, and eventually, other compatriots followed.

  • 2002: Lúcio for Bayer Leverkusen (1-2 vs Real Madrid)
  • 2004: Carlos Alberto for Porto (the opener of the 3-0 win vs Monaco)
  • 2006: Juliano Belletti for Barcelona (2-1 vs Arsenal)
  • 2014: Marcelo for Real Madrid (the third of the 4-1 vs Atlético de Madrid)
  • 2017: Casemiro for Real Madrid (the third of the 4-1 vs Juventus)
  • 2022: Vinicius Junior for Real Madrid (1-0 vs Liverpool)
  • 2024: Vinicius Junior for Real Madrid (the second of the 2-0 vs Borussia Dortmund)
