Antony has yet to live up to the $100 million that Manchester United paid for him in the summer of 2022. While the patience of some fans seems to have worn thin, coach Erik ten Hag still believes in the winger. However, that doesn’t mean the Brazilian will get a place among the starting eleven yet.

“I’ve supported him for a long time because I know he has great skills and can be unstoppable,” said the Dutchman.

Ten Hag knows Antony from their time together at Ajax, which is why he requested his arrival after being hired at Old Trafford. Despite this, the 24-year-old will remain on the bench. This year, Antony has not started in a single Premier League match so far.

“I trust that he can perform in the future. He’s a player with character who will fight, but for now, he has to wait for his chance,” said Ten Hag.

Manchester United play away today against Nottingham Forest in the fifth round of the FA Cup, which might be the only title they can still aspire to this season. Having finished bottom in the Champions League group stage, the Red Devils are currently sixth in the Premier League.

Casemiro is available after the head injury

Last time out at City Ground stadium on December 30th, United lost 2-1 in the English league. Casemiro, who was replaced in the last match against Fulham due to a head injury, will be back for this crucial match.

“He had to come off because he was bleeding. It didn’t benefit us that he couldn’t continue the match, but he will be available,” said Ten Hag.
