Richarlison has a poor season at Everton and could change clubs to guarantee his presence at the World Cup

Despite strong statistics in a bid to be considered for selection, coach Tite has started to forget about the Everton star.

In the 2021-2022 season, Richarlison has not had a successful season for his English team Everton. Nonetheless, he has attracted the interest of several major European football teams. That is because, despite not always being among the summoned, he maintains a high level of performance in the Brazilian squad.

The 24-year-old striker has only scored seven goals in 27 appearances for his team this season. Although, he played well for the Brazilian squad, where he has coach Tite’s faith, scoring three goals in two games. However, his success at the English club might cost him a World Cup berth, since he is no longer a priority in the Brazilian coach’s decisions, subject to injuries and other factors.

According to a report on the English website “90 minutes,” the striker may quit his club in the middle of the year to ensure his participation in the World Cup, which will be held in Qatar between November and December this year. In the middle of last year, the “Pombo” – as he is called – had his name linked with Real Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti, the coach of the Spanish club, led Everton from 2019 to 2021 and is very familiar with the Brazilian striker.

Everton, currently staring relegation in the face in the Premier League, are already looking for a replacement for Richarlison, and the answer might be another Brazilian in Benfica’s Everton Cebolinha.

Everton are reportedly planning a bid for the Brazilian striker, like they did for Richarlison, according to recent reports from Portuguese publication “A Bola.” Cebolinha’s release clause is €150 million (about R$760 million), therefore getting him out of Benfica will be difficult.

Richarlison, who was born in Nova Venécia in Esprito Santo’s interior, is in his first irregular season with Everton. After fantastic periods at América-MG (2015), Fluminense (2016 to 2017), and Watford (2017 to 2018), he came at the prestigious English football club.

Due to his strong stats in the national team, the striker was even assumed to be locked on for a berth in Tite’s competitor squad at the World Cup at the end of this year. However, injuries and inconsistent performances in his team might lose him a spot in Tite’s strong squad. A transfer to another top side, on the other hand, may put him back in contention.

Richarlison numbers

Richarlison may not be enjoying himself at Everton, but he has put up impressive figures since joining the English club in the 2018-2019 season. He double-checks both the “Blues” and the Brazilian team’s stats (he was called up for the first time in 2018).

The data was gathered on April 19, the day the story was published.

About Everton

Everton is an English football club with a long history. The club, which was founded in 1878 in Liverpool, play their home games at the Goodison Park stadium, which seats little over 39,000 fans.

The “Blues” have won the Premier League nine times (the most recent being in 1987) and the FA Cup five times (most recently in 1995). Everton have only won a trophy outside of England once, in 1985, when they won the now-defunct UEFA European Cup.

Apart from Richarlison, Allan, a midfielder who played for Vasco between 2009 and 2012, is the only Brazilian in the English club’s current roster, who are four points and a place away from relegation in the local first division with just eight games remaining (29 points to Burnley’s 25).
