Famous Brazilian footballer Neymar may have to wait a bit longer before making his debut for Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia. According to coach Jorge Jesus, Neymar has suffered an injury which could delay his first game until September.
Following his transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, Neymar officially signed a two-year contract with Al-Hilal last week. The deal, according to French newspaper L’Equipe, is said to be worth €160m. However, a setback occurred when doctors discovered that Neymar had suffered a minor injury.
Coach Jesus disappointed with Neymar delay
During his welcome ceremony in front of 60,000 fans at the King Fahd International Stadium, coach Jesus expressed his disappointment with Neymar’s late start. “Neymar is an innovative and creative player who will definitely contribute to our team. Unfortunately, he is currently injured and it is difficult to say for sure when he will be back. We hope it will be ready by mid-September,” Jesus said.

The situation has raised questions about Neymar’s presence in Brazil’s squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Jesus himself has expressed his astonishment at the decision, saying Neymar is not yet ready to return to action after his ankle injury which occurred last February.
Neymar, who hasn’t featured for Brazil since last year’s World Cup, was added to the squad to face Bolivia on September 8 and then Peru four days later. It remains to be seen whether his injury will heal quickly enough to allow him to participate in these crucial matches.
