Unfortunately, we have seen many episodes of racism in football this season. Vinicius Junior has recently brought this subject to the table by exposing the constant discrimination he suffered in Spain, which is definitely a great first step to tackle this issue.
However, there’s still a long way to go before we can be satisfied. Racial abuse is still a problem in football, so more efforts have to be done in order to make this sport a safe place for everyone. In fact, Newcastle star Joelinton suggests that nothing has changed in regard to this situation.

Joelinton says more changes need to be done to tackle racism
“It’s an important moment to speak about racism”, the Brazilian said, via BBC. “It is not something happening now, but for a long time. In the 21st century, we still see things like that. It’s hard to accept and believe that we are evolving when things like that still happen. We talk about a combat against racism but we didn’t have much of a change.”
Joelinton received a long-awaited call-up to the Brazilian national team for the June international window, in which the Seleção will take on Guinea and Senegal. Hopefully, his request for more action against racism will be heard.
