Brazilian players have played a pivotal role in Arsenal’s resurgence in the last couple of years. The Gunners saw a significant evolution in the 2022-23 season, in which they challenged for the Premier League title against all odds to qualify for the UEFA Champions League after a six-year absence.
While Gabriel Magalhaes’ presence in the backline and the addition of Gabriel Jesus up front gave Mikel Arteta’s side a huge boost, it was Gabriel Martinelli’s fantastic progress what made an impression in north London. The 22-year-old is seen as a pivotal player for the upcoming European tournament, but he is aware of how complicated it could be.

Gabriel Martinelli warns Arsenal are preparing ‘for the worst’ in order to succeed in Champions League
“I think we need to prepare ourselves for the worst, we need to prepare ourselves for the best teams and the whole team is doing that. I think we are ready for a new challenge,” Martinelli said about the upcoming Champions League, via the Daily Mail.
Arsenal have been busy this summer trying to upgrade their squad, knowing that last season they fell short from the league title. One of their biggest problems was the lack of depth in certain positions, which is why the club has landed Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber, and Declan Rice. This gives the Brazilian winger reasons for optimism.
“It’s so important (our squad depth) because we have too many games in the season and it’s going to be tough again,” he added. “We are ready to go and it’s good to have so many options.”
