Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Al-Nassr has been a game-changer for the Saudi Pro League. Many world-renowned players have followed in the Portuguese’s footsteps by taking their talents to the Gulf state, and Fabinho could be the latest to join the queue.

According to transfer market expert Nicolo Schira, the Brazilian is about to complete a €45m move to Al-Ittihad from Liverpool, with personal terms reportedly agreed for €25m a year until 2026. Therefore, the Reds may already have a list of possible replacements for the 29-year-old midfielder.

Candidates to replace Fabinho at Liverpool

According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool have four targets as possible replacements for Fabinho.

  • Romeo Lavia: The 19-year-old gem from Southampton has already been linked with Liverpool in the past, and the team could finally land him as a long-term solution on the midfield this summer.
  • Ryan Gravenberch: The 21-year-old would also be an answer for the future, but Bayern Munich may not let him go so easily.
  • Joao Palhinha: The 28-year-old would give the Reds a faster solution to Fabinho’s absence, but Fulham reportedly have a high asking price for the Portuguese.
  • Cheick Doucoure: The 23-year-old has been at Crystal Palace for only a year, but one season has been enough for him to prove his worth. Let’s keep in mind that the Eagles forked out more than €20m for him in 2022, so he probably won’t come cheap.

Fabinho has been a key contributor for Liverpool in the last five years, so replacing him won’t be easy. While his exit is sad for the English side, the Brazil international faces a great opportunity in a league that continues to build on Ronaldo’s signing. Besides, the midfielder would join forces with the likes of Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante at his new club.
