Kazuyoshi Miura simply refuses to call it a career. Even at 56, the veteran forward continues to extend his professional career as he recently agreed on a new contract with Portuguese outfit Oliveirense for at least another season. Right now, the team is in the Segunda Liga, the country’s second division.
The Japanese striker, who already holds the record for being the oldest player to take part in a professional game in Portugal, started his career in Brazil. Santos were his first club in 1986, and he later donned the uniforms of Esporte Clube XV de Novembro, Palmeiras, CRB and Coritiba.

Kazu Miura spent much of the 80s in Brazil, and just like he did for the rest of his career, he played at many different clubs. And although it’s been more than three decades since he last played in Brazilian football for Coritiba, the veteran forward is still doing his thing and playing professionally.

Last season, he was named Man of the Match in one of his three appearances for Oliveirense. Of course, his best days are far behind him, but Miura continues to get paid for doing what he loves. Back in the day, he was a pivotal player for Japan, having recorded an impressive 55 goals in 89 caps with the senior national team.
