The Brazilian team’s forwards, Gabriel Jesus and Richarlison, are used to competing against one another in the Premier League. First, since 2017 at Manchester City, and second, between 2017 and 2018 at Watford and Everton (between 2018 and 2022).
While switching clubs, the two stayed at “Land of the Queen.” The distinction is that they will now be the focal points of one of London’s fiercest rivalries, the “North London Derby” (Classic of North London).
Gabriel Jesus and Richarlison switch clubs
Tottenham revealed the acquisition of Richarlison, a striker, from Everton on July 1. The cost of the procedure was £50 million, or around R$315 million. The agreement made with “Spurs” is in effect until June 2027.
Gabriel Jesus took centre stage in the British news three days later. Arsenal made the player public after a trade that cost the English club £45 million (about R$ 289 million). The forward committed to the “Gunners” until June 2027 as well.
Opposite moments of clubs
Since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette left for Barcelona and Lyon respectively, in January, Arsenal have been searching for a quality striker. The team will compete in the Europa League the next season despite having a lacklustre cast.
Heung-min Son and Harry Kane, two top players at Tottenham, will get assistance from Richarlison. The London club finished in the Premier League top four last season and will have the honour of competing in the UEFA Champions League in 2022–2023, unlike their rivals.
Attackers’ numbers
Curiously, both forwards are 25 years old and moved to England at the same time in 2017. Before moving to Arsenal, Gabriel Jesus only played for City, and Richarlison defended Watford and Everton. The numbers of both in England may be seen in the following table.

Former Arsenal Brazilians
Former Corinthians player and coach Sylvinho was the first Brazilian to ever defend Arsenal (between 1999 and 2001). He won the 1999 English Supercup there. Former Galo player Gilberto Silva, who won the English championship in 2004, was the team’s only starter from 2002 through 2008.
Former Brazilians from Tottenham
Gomes, a former Cruzeiro goalie, started every game for Tottenham between 2008 and 2013. Paulinho, a midfielder who is presently with Corinthians, played there from 2013 to 2015. Both failed to bring the “Spurs” a championship. But the supporters hold the goalie in high regard.
