Danilo joined Rangers from Feyenoord this summer, but he’s already getting into the fans’ hearts at Ibrox. The 24-year-old recently lived an emotional moment after helping his side reach the Scottish League Cup final. Following a 3-1 win over Hearts, the São Paulo-born striker spotted a young fan with a Brazilian flag and a mask, like the one Danilo is using because of his fractured cheekbone. After giving his jersey to the kid, he opened up on this beautiful moment.

“It’s a dream come true,” he said, via The Sun. “It’s amazing to play over here, to achieve the first final is something to be proud of. When I went out I saw the Brazilian flag with the mask. So it is really special. I don’t have words for the love that they give me. I just want to give back. It just reminds me of when I was a young boy as well and I also wanted a shirt of a footballer. I was really happy I was able to do it. I never got one. I really liked Ronaldo when I was a kid, but I never had the time to see him in the stadium. It was a dream for the boy. I hope if he is a football player he can make his dreams come true, keep enjoying what he is doing.”

Danilo wants to write history with Rangers

Even though he couldn’t get on the scoresheet, Danilo played a pivotal role in Rangers’ ticket to the Viaplay Cup final. Apart from winning the penalty converted by James Tavernier, he assisted Scott Wright to extend his team’s lead.

“With the passion and with my quality, I want to do everything for the club, but also for my teammates. They see a lot of passion in the players. Rangers is a passionate club. I just want to bring everything in the field. It is really great they have this love and support.

Fans already chant for Danilo, who has four goals in eight league appearances. “The song is brilliant. I love hearing it. Yesterday I was with my wife and she said, ‘Dani are you going to sing your song?’, and I said, ‘Yeah!’. I just love this song and it’s become stuck in my head. I appreciate it.”
