Malcom’s progress at Zenit didn’t go unnoticed. On Wednesday, Al-Hilal announced the signing of the Brazilian winger for a reported €60 million total package. While this is great news for the 26-year-old, it will also make Corinthians happy as they’re entitled to receive a portion of the money.
According to Globo Esporte, Timão are due 2.5% of the total transfer fee, which is €1.5 million. This is thanks to FIFA’s solidarity mechanism, which rewards clubs for developing players. In this case, Corinthians have the right to cash in because Malcom was at the club between the ages of 12 and 19.

Malcom’s path to Saudi Arabia
Malcom left home as a teenager after making an impression in the city of São Paulo. A pivotal member of the team that won the 2015 Brasileirão title, the winger caught the eye of Bordeaux, joining the French side for a reported €5 million in 2016.
Corinthians initially kept 15% of his rights, but sold them only a year later. Malcom went on to spend two and a half years in the Ligue 1 until he had his first big break, signing for Barcelona in a €41 million deal in the summer of 2018. However, things didn’t go to plan and ended up leaving for Zenit the following season.

Malcom was able to revitalize his career in Russia, helping the Saint Petersburg-based outfit win multiple titles. Last season, the Brazilian was the Russian Premier League’s top scorer with 23 goals in 27 appearances. His level not only drew the attention from Al-Hilal but also from the national team, earning his first cap in June.
