Vitor Roque will be a Barcelona player; that is a fact. The question is when: the agreement with Athletico Paranaense states that the forward will move to Catalonia in July 2024, but the Cules’ intention is to bring him in sooner, hopefully in January. The problem is that they don’t have enough space in their budget to register him.
Barça are already above the salary cap in LaLiga, which is why they must find a way to comply with the rules or wait until next season to have “Tigrinho” on their squad. However, a new alternative seems to have emerged with Gavi’s injury.

Gavi’s injury could let Roque join Barça in winter
The young Spanish midfielder will miss several months of action due to a serious knee injury. Barcelona announced that their youth gem suffered a complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and an associated injury to the external meniscus.
According to RAC 1, Gavi’s injury would give Barcelona the opportunity to add Roque in January. LaLiga has reportedly informed Barcelona about this possibility, but they could also use the available space for other signings or the renewal of coach Xavi Hernandez. We’ll have to wait and see, but Roque moving to Europe in the short term cannot be ruled out.
