When Lionel Messi joined Inter Miami, two Brazilians became his teammates. But in the blink of an eye, there are no more representatives of the five-time world champion country in South Florida.
Shortly after selling Gregore to Botafogo, the Herons announced the departure of Jean Mota, who is joining Vitória. According to Globo Esporte, the Brazilian side forked out $350,000 to acquire the 30-year-old.

After spending the last two seasons in Miami, Mota was in the final year of his contract with the MLS franchise. The former Santos star made 53 appearances for Inter Miami, recording three goals and six assists.

“We would like to thank Jean for his dedication and contributions throughout his time at Inter Miami and wish well in this next step in his career as he returns home to Brazil,” said Inter Miami Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director Chris Henderson in a statement. “This move gives us flexibility as we continue building our squad to compete for titles this season.”
Mota struggled with injuries in the last year, but he wouldn’t get much playing time anyway as Inter Miami made a number of signings following Messi’s arrival.
The club needed to free up cap space, which is why it didn’t hesitate to find a new home both for Gregore and Mota this year.
