Tamires
Winner 2024
Left-back Tamires is the winner of the Samba Gold 2024 trophy. At 37, the Corinthians player has won the prestigious award for the second time, repeating the feat of the previous year, when she won for the first time in her career.
Tamires stood at the top of the podium, beating strong competitors such as Gabi Portilho and Ludmila, who came second and third respectively. The Corinthians player maintained her lead after a brilliant season, with highlights at both club and international level.
Her success in the Samba Gold vote is mainly due to Corinthians’ winning season, which in 2024 saw them win the Supercopa do Brasil, the Campeonato Brasileiro and the Copa Libertadores. Tamires played a key role in all three victories, being one of the team’s main leaders throughout the year.
Despite her brilliant season, Tamires missed out on the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The player suffered an injury that prevented her from being available to the Brazilian national team for the tournament, frustrating her desire to win another Olympic medal. As a result, Tamires is unlikely to take part in any more major international competitions for the Brazilian national team.
