Vini Jr.
2024 Winner
Vinicius Junior is the winner of the Samba Gold 2024 award. Winning his second consecutive trophy, the Real Madrid star is enshrined in the traditional award for the best Brazilians in international football, whose trophy was created in 2008.
For the second year in a row, the striker, raised at Flamengo, left his compatriots behind. In 2024, the young man finished ahead of striker Neymar, from Al Hilal, and defender Marquinhos, from PSG, who were, respectively, in second and third place.
This time, however, it was striker Pedro who was in second place. The Flamengo player finished the vote ahead of Rodrygo, Vinicius Junior’s teammate at Real Madrid.
The year 2024 was full of collective trophies for Vinicius Junior, who helped Real Madrid win the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup. This was the first season in which Vinicius started as the main star of the most winning club in world football.
However, off the field, Vinicius Junior continues to stand out globally for his stance against racism. Furthermore, the player was considered unfair for not having won the Ballon d’Or. After a year of prominence and important titles, being decisive, the player came in second place for the award, given by France Football magazine, in partnership with UEFA, losing to Spanish midfielder Rodri, from Manchester City.
