After a great stint at São Paulo, Yaya transferred to Corinthians in January of this year. But long before that, she had already been called up to the Brazilian National Team. The first time was in August 2019. Feeling at home with her teammates in Teresópolis, the midfielder sees a lot of balance in the Paris Olympics.
“There are 12 teams with chances. It’s a short-term competition and whoever plays in an Olympics is there on merit, they had to go through some stages,” said Yaya.

To control the anxiety in these days leading up to Brazil’s debut on the 25th against Nigeria, Yaya directs her thoughts to the training and guidance of coach Arthur Elias. She states that she has been taking advantage of the period in Teresópolis (RJ) to perfect details, together with her teammates, so that the National Team can arrive well in France.
“I take a deep breath a few times to deal with the anxiety. But the best thing to do is to focus on the coach’s instructions, understand what he really wants us to do and improve the technical and tactical part.”
A native of Suzano (SP), Yaya, whose full name is Vitoria Ferreira Silva, has already been successful with the U-20 National Team and is used to wearing the Yellow Jersey. But she has not yet experienced the experience of playing in an Olympics.
“I’m happy for the confidence the coaching staff gives me and the opportunity to participate in the Paris Olympic Games.”
