The Women’s Libertadores final will be headlined by a Paulista derby. After beating Internacional in the semi-final, played on Wednesday (18), Corinthians will face Palmeiras in the big decision. This is the second time that a Libertadores final will be played by two Brazilian teams.

Timão secured its place in an exciting final. In normal time, Internacional and Corinthians ended regular time with the game tied 1-1, the goals went to Priscila for Colorado and Vic Albuquerque for Alvinegro. With that, the match went to penalties, in which Timão were superior and beat Internacional, who were playing in their first Libertadores, 4-3.

The final

Brabas (Corinthians) arrive to try to win their fourth championship, as they won the Libertadores in 2017, 2019 and 2021. In all these achievements Arthur Elias was in charge of the team and this will be the coach’s last competition at the helm of the team.

The Palestrinas (Palmeiras) are the current champions of the tournament and want to remain as the best in America. The team had an excellent campaign, which highlighted the offensiveness of the attack, and is now looking to win its second consecutive title.

100% Brazilian final

This is the second time that the Libertadores final will be made up of two Brazilian teams. In 2019, Corinthians and Ferroviária starred in the final in which Brabas came out with the title after beating Guerreiras Grenás 2-0.

In 2023, the derby will be responsible for highlighting the power of Brazilian women’s football. On Saturday (21), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), Corinthians and Palmeiras will face each other to define who will be at the top of America.

3rd place

In addition to first and second place, Brazil can still be represented by the team that comes in third place.

Internacional faces Atlético Nacional (COL) in the dispute for third place, also on Saturday (21), at 5:30 pm (Brasília time).
