Coach Dorival Júnior announced, this Friday (10), the list of players called up for the friendly matches against Mexico and the United States and for the Copa América. Endrick, from Palmeiras, is among the 23 players and will wear the Brazilian national team’s main jersey for the 3rd time.

With his presence confirmed in the Copa América, which takes place between June 20 and July 14, the number 9 shirt of Verdão must leave the São Paulo team earlier than expected.

Endrick turns 18 on July 21 this year, and after reaching the legal age, he will be available to Carlo Ancelotti and will join Real Madrid for the next European season.

With the call-up for this year’s Copa América, the striker anticipates his farewell to the club and the alviverde fans. As the Brasileirão will not be interrupted during the competition, Endrick should miss between nine and 11 matches in the league.

The Libertadores returns only on August 14, when the number 9 shirt will already be in Spanish football with Vinicius Jr., Éder Militão and Rodrygo, as well as other great names from the Merengues.

The striker is expected to bid farewell to the Verdão fans at Allianz Parque in the match against San Lorenzo-ARG, scheduled for May 30 (Thursday), at 7pm (Brasilia time), in the last round of the Libertadores group stage.

The last official match for Palmeiras for the number 9 shirt should be against Atlético-MG, at the Arena MRV, which is scheduled for June 2 (Sunday), at 6:30pm (Brasilia time), for the Brasileirão. The schedule was confirmed by Endrick’s staff.

“He will report to Real Madrid immediately after turning 18,” said Thiago Freitas, the agent from Roc Nation, who represents the striker.

Can Endrick play for Palmeiras after the Copa América?

Players representing Brazilian teams, like Endrick, will report on June 3rd. Before the Copa América, the Brazilian national team plays friendlies against Mexico (June 8) and the United States (June 12). The continental competition begins on June 20.

There was an expectation that Endrick could play the matches against Fluminense and Vitória, scheduled for July 17 and 21, for the 19th and 20th rounds of the Brasileirão, before the transfer to Real Madrid.

The dates are not yet confirmed on the calendar, but even with the possibility of taking place in the window before the striker turns 18, the matches are not part of the plans at the moment.

Remembering Zagallo

Sambafoot Series launched a new documentary about the football legend Zagallo. Known as ‘Velho Lobo‘ and as superstitious as it gets, Zagallo helped shape what Brazilian football is nowadays — as a player and as a coach.
