Botafogo positions itself as one of the main contenders for the most coveted titles in Brazilian football in 2024, particularly the Conmebol Libertadores and the Campeonato Brasileiro.

In this mid-season, Botafogo has made significant investments in high-profile signings. Among the most notable names are Thiago Almada, world champion with Argentina, Igor Jesus, Allan, Matheus Martins, and the imminent arrival of Vitinho, right-back from Burnley.
Additionally, the Rio de Janeiro club is still looking for a defender to complete the squad. These reinforcements contrast with the signings of 2023, when the club brought in players like Diego Hernandez and Valentín Adamo, who had little impact on the team.
The amount spent on signings this year exceeds R$ 246 million, more than ten times the amount invested in 2023. The impact of these signings is already visible on the field, with Igor Jesus and Thiago Almada establishing themselves as starters and Matheus Martins standing out in the 4-1 victory over Flamengo.
Unlike the previous year, when only Diego Costa had relevance on the field, Botafogo now has a more qualified and competitive squad.
