In 2024, seven years have passed since the surprising departure of Oscar to Chinese football, a player who promised to be a fixture in European football’s elite and a leader of a generation in the Seleção.
However, the Brazilian made a surprising move towards a league that, for those who may not remember, attempted to do what the Saudi Professional League has achieved today: assembling a league of stars with excessively high contracts.

Oscar is reportedly on the radar of Internacional, Palmeiras, and Flamengo
Oscar is one of the last survivors of that group of players who swapped the European elite for Chinese football, and his contract, which has earned him a tremendously high fortune, is said to be nearing its end.
According to TransferMarkt information, Oscar’s contract with Shanghai Port will expire in November 2024, meaning the 32-year-old player (who will turn 33 at that time) will be a free agent in December.
Diario Sport states that several teams are closely monitoring his situation, and at least for now, all of them are reportedly from his home country.
Initially, his salary wouldn’t be a problem when considering a return to a league with lower wages since the player has reportedly informed his inner circle and agents that he is ready to return to a “normal” salary level.
The aforementioned source asserts that up to three Brasileirão teams are keeping a close eye on him: Internacional from Porto Alegre, where he began his sporting career, Palmeiras, and Flamengo. All these clubs are reportedly willing to wait for his contract to expire and see him as a perfect addition for the 2025 season.
