Team building

Rodrigues made known to the press that Dorival’s tenure is just beginning, with recent tournaments serving as a period for team bonding and strategy development. “It’s a job that is just beginning and with a renewal that he is implementing in the Brazilian team

“It was an important period, because there was more time in which (Dorival and the players) had this coexistence. Normally, these call-ups are for short periods, but now he was able to observe a lot and draw (conclusions) from what he can always be doing”

World Cup qualifiers

The focus now shifts to the World Cup qualifiers with six games lined up from September to November. Rodrigues noted the team is in transition, bringing in young players who are adapting to the intense world of international football. “We were aware of our position compared to more experienced teams like Colombia and Uruguay,” he explained.

The CBF has set up strong preparation conditions, starting with long training camps in May and two friendlies in June. This plan aims to develop a team that can compete globally. “Dorival is aware of what didn’t go well, and that’s how you build a competitive team, a winning team.”

He went on, “That’s what the project is about, because every time you make changes, you start a new job and it’s always more difficult, so I think it was a start that allowed him to make his conjectures and I’m sure he’ll find the right timing ,” Rodrigues explained.

Looking ahead, the Brazilian team will meet on September 4 for a World Cup qualifier against Ecuador, marking the start of their intense prep for the 2026 cycle. As players take a short break or head back to their clubs, the early groundwork will be key for upcoming challenges.
