Fluminense is playing probably the most interesting football in Brazil. The team kept its core from last season, with Paulo Henrique Ganso, Jhon Arias and Germán Cano. Coach Fernando Diniz was able to improve his system with powerful additions, such as Real Madrid’s idol Marcelo. They’ve already won the Campeonato Carioca and are also on top of their Copa Libertadores group, with three wins in three games.
With all this good phase going on, fans erupted with similarities between Diniz and Apple TV’s hit show Ted Lasso, which features an american coach that travels to England to work at Richmond FC, a small club from London. The series is now at its third and final season, but had memorable moments, especially because of the optimism of coach Lasso, played by Jason Sudeikis.

Similarities between Diniz and Lasso
Both coaches are known by valuation human relationships as the main basis to their work with athletes.
“The most important thing is to establish good relations with the players: they are what will determine the result and the development of the games. This I try to establish as quickly as possible. My intention is to improve the players. The player is an extremely intelligent and sensitive being. Culture and school may be lacking, but intelligence is not lacking. People go through moments of insecurity”, said Diniz to ESPN.
The same happens with Lasso. The character was developed a few years back to promote the Premier League in the United States. In the show, he build quality relationships with people around him despite receiving disbelief at first. The series shows the development of Richmond FC throughout series of good examples especially by the unequivocal ability to believe in themselves and in the group.

Not only the similarities have been pointed out, but also the memes. A fan said that the only difference between Diniz and Lasso is the Campeonato Carioca, while others even find resemblance in the style of the characters.
