The FIFA rule on the use of stars on jerseys
The world soccer regulatory body does not allow a male team to use the stars obtained by the female team, and vice versa. This is how the regulation reads about this issue:
“The number and design of the five-pointed star or the symbol chosen by FIFA will be specific to each team that has won one or more previous editions of the FIFA Soccer World Cup, the FIFA Women’s World Cup, the FIFA Futsal World Cup or the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup (i.e. the senior men’s team jersey may not bear a five-pointed star corresponding to tournaments won by the senior women’s team, the of futsal or the beach soccer team and vice versa.(…) Notwithstanding the foregoing, the number and design of the five-pointed star or the symbol chosen by FIFA corresponding to the senior women’s or men’s team may also be displayed on the uniform of other teams in the same category, that is, youth men’s teams may wear a five-pointed star for each edition of the FIFA World Cup won by the senior men’s team; Similarly, youth women’s teams may wear a five-pointed star for each edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup won by the senior women’s team.”
Brazil also preferred to keep the achievements separate
Although FIFA determined the norm for all federations, from Brazil they also preferred it to be this way. On the one hand, so that women’s football has its own identity and, furthermore, to motivate the players to go in search of their first title.
