Manchester City, like so many other powerful clubs in Europe, usually sets its sights on those youngsters who promise to be the talents of the future. In this sense, Brazilian soccer has always attracted the attention of teams looking to detect promise. This is how Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus, Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior, among many others, have made the leap.

Apparently, the Citizens have once again identified a possible jewel from Brazil. As reported by Ge, the Mancunian team has invited Roger Gabriel, a youth player from Bahia, to take part in their training sessions in July.

Roger Gabriel, the 16-year-old boy invited to train with Manchester City

Roger Gabriel is barely 16 years old and has already signed his first professional contract with Bahia. Last February, the team secured the young midfielder’s record until 2026. City’s invitation talks about how much this footballer promises, for which his club would have already rejected offers.

He was discovered by his current team in 2018, when he drew attention to a project in the Jardim Cruzeiro neighborhood, when he was just 11 years old. Gabriel immediately demonstrated his skills, skipping levels and moving up to the Under-17 team in 2021, when he was three years younger than his teammates. He was already champion of several youth tournaments, and now it will be necessary to see if he succeeds with the first team or if he will go to Europe before.
