Gabriel Pec’s path to MLS
Having joined the Rio de Janeiro-based club at the age of eight in 2009, Pec has so far spent his entire career at Vasco. Things haven’t always been easy for him, as his peers were bigger than him between the age of 15 and 17. His development took a while, but Pec eventually made his way to the senior squad in 2019, when Vanderlei Luxemburgo was in charge.
According to multiple reports in Brazil, the LA Galaxy have completed the signing of Gabriel Pec.

His playing time was still limited in his first two years as a pro, but in 2021 Pec embraced a bigger role with the team relegated to the Serie B, making 34 appearances with one goal and three assists. He went on to play a pivotal role in the club’s return to the Brazilian top-flight next season, but his breakout year came in 2023. Last year, Pec recorded an impressive 14 goals in 50 games across all competitions.
At 22, the Petrópolis native already boasts 26 goals and 14 assists in 170 games across five seasons as a pro. Now, a bigger challenge waits for him in Los Angeles.
