The FIFA Club World Cup has been largely dominated by European teams, which makes sense because of the sporting and financial differences between the Old Continent and the rest of the planet.

In fact, Brazil is the only non-European country that can take pride in having club world champions. Corinthians won the first ever Club World Cup winner in 2000, with Sao Paulo and Internacional joining the list in 2005 and 2006, respectively.

Timao got their hands on the trophy for the second time in 2012, when they upset then reigning UEFA Champions League winners Chelsea in the final.

Since then, the UEFA representative has emerged victorious in every Club World Cup so far. In 2023, Fluminense suffered one of the biggest losses in a final by conceding a 4-0 defeat to Manchester City.

In the meantime, Corinthians, Sao Paulo and Internacional remain as the only Brazilian clubs who became world champions.
