Coach Dorival Júnior highlighted several aspects of the Brazilian National Team in the opening match of the Copa América, on Monday night (24th), in Los Angeles: 0-0 against Costa Rica. He lamented, however, that moves and plays created did not result in goals.

“We had most of the time with passing, with prospects on the sides, inside, we played with proximity, we created good opportunities. We were not lucky in the finishes, I agree, but, in general, I think we presented very positive things,” said the coach in a press conference.

“I am aware of what is being developed, what was asked, of the volume that we presented,” the coach continued.

For Dorival Júnior, the Brazilian National Team rolled the ball well, exchanged passes at speed and created good situations. But, he acknowledged, the definition was lacking.

“We rolled the ball well, we transitioned well in front of the area, we turned from one side to the other, but the marking was quick. It’s a reduced field and this makes it easier for those who defend and more difficult for those who attack. When Vini received the ball, there were already two marking players and a third approaching, in a line of five. It was the same with Raphinha. Something was missing, the definition was lacking.”

Dorival said the National Team will take the field with the same spirit against Paraguay on Friday (28th), seeking control of the game, respecting the opponent, but always with intensity and in search of victory.
