The coach of the Brazilian National Team, Dorival Júnior, made it clear on Tuesday (11) that the disputes are open and did not want to advance the team that will face the United States on Wednesday (12) in Orlando. The friendly match will be Brazil’s last test before the Copa América, which will open on the 20th. On Saturday (8), the National Team defeated Mexico 3-2 in Texas.

“In the previous match, I had the obligation to observe players and keep the disputes open. The National Team is the moment, it’s taking advantage of the best of each one at the moment they are fighting for position,” said the coach at the press conference held on Tuesday at the Camping World Stadium.

The friendly match will be Dorival’s fourth game in charge of the National Team. In addition to the victory against Mexico last week, Brazil defeated England 1-0 at Wembley and drew 3-3 with Spain at the Santiago Bernabéu in Spain.

For the match against the United States, the coach announced that the National Team will maintain the style consecrated by Brazilian football and predicts an evolution of the team.

“It’s a natural evolution process. In football, you don’t skip stages. In all the training sessions, we have put movements and behaviors that we wanted and needed them to assimilate quickly to find a safer path. This balance will happen within the Copa América itself,” said Dorival Júnior.

“I want the players to use and abuse the one-on-one, with dribbles and plays. This is the essence of our football. It’s a young and very mature team for their young age. I feel good and positive things that we can do on the field,” he added.

Dorival praised the United States team, which they will face at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando. The stadium is known to older football fans. The arena was one of the nine host stadiums of the 1994 World Cup. On that occasion, the Camping World Stadium was called Citrus Bowl and hosted five matches of the World Cup won by Brazil.

“It’s a team that plays a little more with ball possession, has high and aggressive marking. I have no doubt that we will have a very difficult and complicated game. You can expect a well-disputed game, which is what I believe we will have, and I hope we are prepared,” he concluded.

Remembering Zagallo
