Vitor Roque gave his final interview as an Athletico player. He is now preparing to join Barcelona in January, during the winter transfer window. The 18-year-old spoke to the Furacão‘s official channel and promised to come back to the club.

“I’m happy to make my dream come true, but I’m also sad to leave Furacão. It’s a club where I was very happy and had many good moments. The way I’m leaving is definitely marked, with the support of the fans and everyone shouting my name. Happy for the legacy I left at Furacão. I arrived as a boy full of insecurity and fear. I was shy in training, but I learned a lot from my teammates and evolved physically, mentally and technically.”

Furacão fans, eternal gratitude for all the welcome you have given me since I arrived at the club. I’ll take it for the rest of my life. Thank you for all the affection. I hope one day to return to the club and bring joy to you

Roque and Athletico almost conquered the Libertadores, but ended the tournament as runner-ups after losing the final to Flamengo in 2022.

“It has always been a dream to play in the Libertadores and I never imagined being among Athletico’s top scorers in the competition. The most difficult moment was the Libertadores final (2022). It was the one that weighed the most. It was always the club’s dream, and losing like that was difficult, but my most memorable moment wearing the Athletico shirt was also in the Libertadores: the goal against Estudiantes. I was able to classify the team for the semi-finals 17 years later. It was remarkable for me and for the club.”
