Vitor Roque has now been at FC Barcelona for about 40 minutes, coming off the substitute bench in the last two games. But before starting this new stage of his football career, another big club in Europe came looking for him, when he was at Athletico Paranaense, with a specific offer to sign him.

Manchester City presented him with a contract in which they offered him more money than Barça, but that was not enough to change the forward’s desire to opt for his current team, according to the Onze program on Catalan television.

Before the transfer was completed, which was delayed due to the Barça team’s financial situation, there was already talk that Manchester United, Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain were also interested in the 18-year-old footballer.

Barcelona travels to Saudi Arabia

FC Barcelona’s next match will be on Thursday against Osasuna for the Spanish Super Cup, a mini tournament that will be played in Saudi Arabia and in which Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid also compete (who face each other tomorrow). Xavi included Vitor Roque on the list of those called up to travel, although he has not yet given any indication as to whether the Brazilian will make his debut in a starting eleven.

Meanwhile, Tigrinho’s presentation to Barça fans will have to wait until January 27, when the team will once again play at home in LaLiga. That day the rival will be Villareal.
