Vinicius bagged a late equalizer for Real Madrid as they were frustrated by Real Sociedad at the Alfredo di Stefano stadium.
Los Blancos dominated the first half and had several chances to open the scoring, including hitting the woodwork twice.
The first half ended goalless with Real Madrid clearly the better side. However, things would go on to change in the second period.
Real Sociedad returned to the pitch much better and took the lead in the 55th minute after Portu connected perfectly with a cross from Nacho Monreal.
In a bid to push for an equalizer and maybe a late comeback, Zidane made three changes just after the half hour mark. Having lost his place in the starting XI in recent weeks, Vinicius was among the three players brought on by Zidane.
The Brazilian brought in some pace and urgency for Los Blancos upfront and they looked much better moving forward.
On his 100th appearance for the club, Vinicius marked it style as he scored from close range in the 89th minute to secure a crucial point for his side.
Still only 20 years of age, only Raul Gonzalez, Iker Casillas and Jose Camacho have equaled that feat at younger ages. All of the mentioned players went on to be legends for the club and perhaps it’s a sign Vinicius will go on to be a marquee player for Los Blancos.
Speaking on his milestone appearance, Vinicius said: “It’s a big achievement to play 100 games in these colours. I’m delighted and this is a very special day for me.
“I’ve told my family that it’s been really exciting to make 100 appearances and to give everything for this shirt, which we love so dearly.”
With a point gained, Real Madrid missed the chance to go back to second place and remain five points behind La Liga Leaders Atletico Madrid.
