Two athletes who became activists in the fight against racism came face to face. Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior and Colin Kaepernick, former professional NFL player recognized for starting to kneel before the start of each match to protest against discrimination and police brutality.
“Today has been a very, very special day for me. Listening to and knowing the story of a man who has fought so hard against racism has been unforgettable for me,” Vini wrote on his social networks. “Your story is truly inspiring and I recommend everyone watch your Netflix documentary,” he added in reference to the miniseries titled Colin in Black and White.
“This day and my conversation with Colin will have a great impact on my life to make this a better and more equal world,” concluded the Brazilian winger. Both athletes exchanged shirts with the number 7, the number they chose for their sports career.

“My brother Vini is changing the world, while being one of the best in the world at what he does! Keep it cool, bro,” wrote Kaepernick, former quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers.
The American came to the forefront of the news in 2016 when he began to kneel during the national anthem to denounce the fight against racism and police brutality. That gesture was later reproduced by several figures and multiplied in other disciplines, including football.
