Although he may consider spending his career at Real Madrid, the 23-year-old said he had to keep his promise to his father to one day return to wear the red and black jersey. Flamengo indeed occupies a special place in the heart of Vinicius, who took his first steps on the professional pitch there. Recently, he was even received like an idol at the Maracanã by flamenguist supporters.

“I believe I could stay here (at Real Madrid) my entire career, but the club of my life is Flamengo. I promised my father I would come back one day. I have to respect that promise.”

During his two seasons at Flamengo, Vinicius showed glimpses of his talent, scoring 14 goals in 69 matches in all competitions. If he has since established himself as a senior member of Real Madrid and the Seleção, his attachment to the club that revealed him remains intact. The promise made to his father to one day return to wear the red and black jersey testifies to this special relationship that the player maintains with Flamengo.
