Brazil’s defeat against Colombia was very painful not only because of the second consecutive defeat in the Qualifiers, but also for losing one of its big stars: Vinicius Jr. The Real Madrid winger was replaced in the 27th minute during the match against the Colombians in Barranquilla and was seen limping and in intense pain as he left the field.

The player was treated and bandaged on the bench, repeatedly showing pain in the back of his left thigh. Although the extent of his injury has not yet been confirmed, the striker and his coach, Fernando Diniz, have clarified what is known about it.

Vinicius Jr. suffered a left thigh muscle injury

After the match, Diniz spoke about the Real Madrid star’s pain, saying that although he is not 100% ruled out, the technical staff doubts his participation in the match against Argentina on November 21:

“It is difficult for him to play against Argentina. He had to leave the field due to a muscle injury, specifically to the back of his (left) thigh. We think it is very unlikely that he will be against Argentina, but today we did not lose because of his absence.”

Regarding his injury, Vinicius spoke to the press in the mixed zone, raising doubts about his participation in the next match, as the player has concerns about his pain.

“I think it’s the same injury as the previous one. I got hit there and felt some pain a little later. Tomorrow (11/17) we will do tests to see how the situation evolves. The doctors tell me it’s difficult (to get to the match against Argentina), but we will try everything.”, concluded the Brazilian, referring to the same injury that prevented him from playing at the start of the season with Real Madrid.

In the last minutes, specialist journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Vinicius Jr. would travel to Madrid this Friday evening to undergo the necessary examinations after his injury. This is why the Brazilian star would be completely excluded from the match against Argentina. Initially, his injury would be less serious than expected, but both the club and the national team would have made the decision not to take risks and that is why he was withdrawn from the call-up.
