Vasco were crowned champions after their 3-3 draw against Bahia on Sunday in the second leg of the Copa do Brasil final. A 5-4 aggregate was enough to see the Vasco U-20 side come out on top at the end of the day.
Vasco opened the scoring just before the half hour mark.
In the 26th minute, Laranjeira opened the scoring before Galarza Matías doubled the lead minutes later from a well stroked goal.
Bahia pulled one back in a controversial manner at the stroke of half time in the very last minute through Bezerra Gabriel. Gabriel was said to have fouled the Vasco goalkeeper during a corner kick which made the shot-stopper trip on the floor. From that move, the Bahia star got on the score sheet putting his side back in the game.
The tides of the game changed in Bahia’s favour in the second half when Borel and Marcelo scored in the space of two minutes to hand the visiting side the lead and level on goal on aggregate.
Bahia became unfortunate in the 74th minute when Gabriel Lhman was shown a red after he dragged a Vasco player to the ground close to the goal area.

Speaking after the game, Caio Eduardo was pleased to have played a crucial part in his side’s title win.
“I thank God and Professor Siston. I am very happy to decide an important title like that with Vasco. I hope that I left a good impression and that he (Luxembourg) can give me a chance at the professional”.
