There was no upset as Vasco saw off Tombense and moved further in the Copa do Brasil. Gabriel Pec gave the away side the lead after only two minutes into the game. Vasco dominated possession in the first half and should have added to their tally.
However, they finally grabbed the second goal in the 50th minute, with Andrey scoring a sublime free-kick to put Vasco comfortably in the lead.
Six minutes from time, Daniel Amorim pulled one back for Tombense but it only turned out to be a consolation goal.

Speaking after the game, goal-scorer Andrey was pleased with his contribution to the game: “I am happy to have helped with the goal. I have worked with Marcelo a lot. The games are always difficult, the teams from the countryside are good. The team knew how to suffer and the important thing is the classification”.
With the result, Vasco are guaranteed of a spot in the third round of the competition, which is expected to take place between the 2nd and 9th of June. At the moment, Vasco are yet to know their next opponents, who will be determined after a draw, as per the rules of the competition.
