Defensa y Justicia and Vasco could only settle for a draw after a back and forth game on Friday night. The goals in the game came from Braian Romero and Germán Cano respectively.
Defensa were the better team on the pitch and saw more possession of the ball while also registering more shot on target and creating better chances.
However, they failed to capitalize on their chances created. In the first half, the home side had the chance to take the lead three times but their efforts were ruled out by offside and impediments.
In the first half, Defensa dominated play against a Vasco side that was very poor in both defense and attack. They saw 63% possesion in the first 45 minutes of play and had three goals correctly disallowed.
The best chance of the first half came from Gustavo Torres who received a ball from Ricardo Graça but later wasted his effort which was paried away by Unsain’s resolute defense.
In the second half, Vasco did not improve much but managed to open the scoring against the run of play manner. Miranda pushed forward and sent an exquisite pass to Léo Matos who measured a cross to the Cano who made no mistake and fired into past the Defensa goalkeeper. The Argentine then dedicated his goal to Diego Maradona saying: “For you, Diego!”.
17 minutes later, Defensa finally got their reward from their dominant play and equalised through Braian Romero. The home side pushed again for a winner but the game ended in a stalemate.
