The Brazilian Futsal Championship will only debut in 2024, but it already has a superstar in the national management team. Vander Iacovino, a two-time world champion with the Brazilian Futsal Team, is the new executive director of the competition. The icon of the sport arrives to lead negotiations between participating clubs, partners, and the Brazilian Futsal Confederation.

“I am very happy. I received the invitation from CBFS and SportsHub and accepted it with great pride. I will always want the best for our sport. We will strengthen ourselves by holding more competitions. The Brazilian Championship aims to provide opportunities for teams from outside the south-southeast axis, which already have their strengths, as well as to revive the traditional teams in our sport. It will certainly create more job opportunities for those involved in futsal, whether in technical, administrative, or support roles,” highlights Iacovino.

SportsHub, a partner of the Brazilian Futsal Confederation in organizing the new championship, believes that Iacovino’s addition to the team will bring fundamental technical knowledge and ensure that the competition is carried out with excellence.

“We believe that a competition of this relevance needs the involvement of the great names in the sport, those who helped build this history. Iacovino is one of the greats of Brazilian futsal. He understands the reality of the sport very well,” says Sérgio Gomes, CEO of SportsHub.

The Brazilian Futsal Confederation announced on Monday (18) the 20 participating clubs in the first edition of the championship. The revelation took place at the opening ceremony of the Mundo do Futsal Decathlon Experience event in Foz do Iguaçu. Marcos Madeira, president of the Brazilian Futsal Confederation, praised Iacovino’s hiring for the Brazilian team.

“We want the involvement of the entire futsal community. We want to join forces to strengthen our sport. Iacovino meets this desire of ours. He is a name that needs no introduction. He will help us a lot in making the championship even better,” he said.

Iacovino wants the Brazilian Championship to open new horizons for teams to gain more visibility in the futsal scene:

“We will work hard to make it a competition that will provide opportunities for more teams from Brazil to appear nationally. We will create a competition that will consolidate and appeal to futsal enthusiasts in all regions.”
