After his team Flamengo’s victory over Cruzeiro, coach Tite was full of praise for one of his former players, Neymar. “Neymar is one of the best players I’ve had the privilege to coach,” he said. “His talent, creativity, and goalscoring ability make him a one-of-a-kind player in the world.”

Neymar has indeed left his mark on Brazilian and international football. With 64 goals in 103 appearances for the Seleção, he is the second-highest goalscorer in the national team’s history, behind legend Pelé. Under Tite’s leadership, Neymar notably won the Copa América in 2019, even though he could not participate in the competition due to an injury.

Ronaldo, a Brazilian football legend

Alongside Neymar, Tite also heaped praise on another Brazilian football legend: Ronaldo. “Ronaldo is undoubtedly one of the best players I’ve had the privilege to coach,” he said. “His talent, power, and goalscoring ability made him one of the most feared strikers in history.”

With 62 goals in 97 appearances, Ronaldo is one of the all-time top scorers for the Seleção. He notably won two World Cups with Brazil, in 1994 and 2002, becoming one of the most decorated players in the history of the competition.
