The Brazil number 9 for the Copa América, Endrick, showed once again why he was chosen by the Brazil coaching staff to receive the jersey number that has been worn by greats like Tostão and Ronaldo. In the 50th minute of the second half, the striker took advantage of a cross from Vinicius Junior and headed it into the back of the net, securing the Seleção’s 3-2 win over Mexico at the Kyle Field in College Station, Texas (USA).

After the match, Endrick was quick to emphasize the importance of the collective for his individual standout performance.

“I am very thankful to God, I am not the only one playing on this team. This trophy is not just mine, it belongs to the whole team. I don’t win alone, it was thanks to the team,” he dedicated.

His short stature compared to the defenders did not make a difference for the 1.71m young player, who scored the goal thanks to good positioning inside the box.

“They say I’m too small to be a number 9, but it’s not about being small, it’s about positioning,” he explained.

With five games for the Seleção, Endrick has now scored three goals in the last three matches. He also shone in the clashes against England and Spain in March, in which he was important for Dorival Junior’s good start at the helm of the Brazilian National Team.

The coach’s work, in fact, was praised by Endrick, who hopes the friendlies before the Copa América will be the start of a victorious campaign in the competition.

“An excellent job by Dorival. We trained well and I hope we can work even more because the goal is the Copa América. Let’s see what’s going to happen. I hope we can win this Copa América with the support of all Brazilians,” he said.

Endrick has the chance to continue shining with the Brazilian National Team against the United States next Wednesday (12) at 8pm, at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida (USA).
